A 21-year-old Northampton resident was charged with involuntary manslaughter for his alleged involvement in the death of University of Massachusetts journalism student Darby Fassett, who overdosed on heroin last May.

Justin P. Morin of 20 Jackson St. confessed to the Hadley Police that he sold four glassine bags of "American Gangster" heroin to Fassett the day before Fassett was pronounced dead at Northampton's Cooley Dickinson Hospital.

Although Morin was then charged with distribution of a Class A substance in the Northampton District Court, he pleaded not guilty and was released after a $1,000 bail.

Since then, a Hampshire County grand jury has found what it said is sufficient evidence to indict Morin for involuntary manslaughter. However, the legal circumstances upon which Morin is being indicted have not yet been revealed to the public. According to a Representative of the Clerk's Office at the Hampshire Superior Court, Morin is scheduled to appear in court on Dec. 5 for this new case.

Presently, Chief of Hadley Police Dennis Huckowicz and Assistant District Attorney and Chief of Narcotics Mary Lou Szulborski have not commented on Morin's upcoming indictment.
