Robber leaves behind book bag with name on it

Wednesday, November 22

2:38 p.m.

A woman reported that her wallet that contained $58 in cash, her driver's license, her ATM card and her Social Security card was stolen from her purse while she was attending an event at the Crocker Farm School at 280 West St. in Amherst.

Thursday, November 23

12:36 a.m.

A Grantwood Drive resident reported an attempted breaking and entering. The screen of a window was popped out of place, but there were no signs of entry. A book bag was recovered on the scene with the suspect's name written on it. This case is still under investigation.

8:52 p.m.

A deer was struck and killed on impact on No. East Street after it jumped into the roadway. The vehicle, a 2003 Ford Ranger, had damage to its front-end bumper, passenger side fog light and assembly area, according to police.

Friday, November 24

1:09 a.m.

A CVS employee on University Drive reported a stolen wooden pallet from the store. The RP claimed that there were between 90 and 100 of the same wooden pallets stolen from the store over the summer.

1:45 p.m.

An East Hadley Road resident reported a BB gun shot that damaged a house's window. The window was not broken but will need to be replaced. The resident was not at home at the time of the incident.

9:34 p.m.

An East Pleasant Street resident reported two laptops missing from his home. He was away from his house for a couple of days and discovered that someone gained access to his house through a rear basement door.

11:55 p.m.

Two Amherst residents were summoned to court for unlawful noise and possession of a class D drug during a party at their apartment. According to police, there was loud music and a strong odor of marijuana coming from the residence and the apartment was saturated with marijuana.

Saturday, November 25

2:09 a.m.

Nicholas Geoffry Southwick-Hall, 21, of 191 Munsell St in Belchertown, Mass. was arrested after he was pulled over by an Amherst police officer on a warrant issued by the Buckland Police Department for leaving the scene of property damage. Southwick-Hall was pulled over for failing to use care when turning after he nearly struck a police cruiser while turning onto Main Street.

Sunday, November 26

10:20 a.m.

A 15-year-old male Amherst resident was issued a citation for using a motor vehicle without authority after he took his stepmother's car during the night. He lost control when he was backing out of a parking space and crashed into another car and a building, according to police.

2:45 p.m.

A female reported that her Cybershot digital camera and a Nokia cellular phone were stolen during a party on Saturday night.

8:24 p.m.

Kevin N. Doubleday, 20, of Buckland, Mass. was arrested for possessing a class D drug. Doubleday was stopped for speeding on North East Street and police noticed a strong odor of marijuana coming from the car. A cigarette box containing a marijuana roach and a glass pipe containing marijuana were found in the car.
