The world of DIY, though often hard to connect with in the real world, is easily accessible on the internet in a number of different places.

Sharing ideas and projects with other like-minded people has never been easier, especially with new forums and communities popping up around every virtual corner.

It doesn't matter what type of DIY you're into, be it fashion, food, beauty - really anything at all.

On a personal level, it is difficult to come across people who are equally passionate about DIY fashion. You need, however, look no further than message boards. It is not uncommon to find posts from fellow bloggers, depicting interests similar to your own.

You may begin contributing to the thread yourself and exchange advice and tips with one another..

A few DIY sites really pave the way and solidify the interest of many DIY-seekers. There are places for sewers and crafters of all levels of skill and experience, and a few stand out above the rest as the undeniable superiors of the on-line DIY fashion revolution.

Threadbanger

Website: www.threadbanger.com

Featured on the Rachael Ray show, this website is a haven for all things DIY, with a focus on fashion and beauty. Hosts Rob and Corinne release a new video every week with a feature of some sort, usually an interview with a designer or footage from a recent DIY-related trip they took, as well as a new tutorial. Each episode also has input from viewers and often features the work of a forum member. The forums are constantly buzzing with new tips, tricks, tutorials and photos of users' finished projects.

Etsy

Website: www.etsy.com

Etsy is gaining popularity and credibility in the world of buying and selling handmade items. The site has tons of categories to choose from when shopping so it's easy to find exactly what you're looking for, from clothes and jewelry to art and furniture to books and music. What's even better are the prices, all of which are reasonable and some of which may shock you.
