The Student Government Association (SGA) in conjunction with the Graduate Student Senate (GSS) is calling on students to participate in an all-student strike scheduled for Thursday and Friday of this week. Students' refusal to attend classes is hoped to attract media attention that will bring the governing bodies' demands into state-wide public consciousness.
The University of Massachusetts Republican Club is holding a "Speak-Out" against the scheduled General Student Strike at noon today on the steps of the Student Union. According to the Republican Club President Brad DeFlumeri, they are going to discuss why they are opposed to the strike, which is scheduled to take place Thursday and Friday, and specifically why they disagree with the grievances students have.

Released on Nov. 7, BusinessWeek's 2007 Part-Time MBA Programs ranked 30 national programs on three factors: student satisfaction based from a survey of 9,274 MBA students, academic quality, and post-MBA outcomes.
University of Massachusetts Alumni dedicated Minuteman Crossing, the new stone plaza surrounding the Minuteman Statue between the Old Chapel and the Campus pond, on Saturday. The plaza is a gift from the Class of 1956 in honor of their 50th reunion. The circular terrace surrounding the Minuteman Statue itself is a gift from the Class of 1950.
Students at the University of Massachusetts supported a move by the Federal Communication Commission (FCC) voted to eliminate a competition barrier in the cable market for managed real estate developments last week. On October 13, 2007 the FCC, citing a violation of section 628(b) of the Telecommunications Act of 1996, voted in favor of banning video service exclusivity in multiple dwelling units (MDUs).
