"They kept shifting so many people in there, Rudy said. "We sort of lost our control in being able to step up and intercept and we also lost a little bit of quickness in there."
In the second half, both UMass and UNH traded offensive positions, with Patry, Lima and Anderson constantly bringing the ball into the UNH zone.
Patry got a feed from freshman midfielder Meghan Collins on the right side of the field and beat Golding on the inside post to put the Minutewomen in the lead at 2-1.
With a number of stops by the UMass defense and missed opportunities from the UNH offense, it looked like the Minutewomen would get their first victory of the season.
But with about seven minutes remaining in the match, forward Shaunna Kaplan recorded her second assist of the game, feeding Hourihan on the right side of the field. Hourihan blasted a shot into the lower left-hand corner of the net, tying the game at two goals apiece.
In the first overtime period, UMass had a number of chances, but again couldn't connect. In the second overtime period, fatigue set in for both teams, as the Wildcats and Minutewomen had some turnovers.
